The worst thing that can happen is that you wake up in the morning itching like crazy. The first thing you think of is probably what your problem is, unless you know for sure you ran into a patch of chiggers outside – bedbugs. Your mother always said, “Good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite!” How could this happen?
To make sure it’s bed bugs, you need to check for them. Look at the itchy area to see if you see bed bug bites marks. If you do, then it’s time to tear the bed apart and start looking for signs of bed bugs. If you have them, you will need to exterminate them. Clint Miller Exterminating can help you eradicate the bed bugs – they’ll be in other places in your home besides your bed.
Sometimes, it’s hard to find evidence of bed bugs. Knowing what bed bug bites look like and what baby bed bug bug bites look like will help you find them. If you notice the bites when you are on the sofa, you’ll know to look on the living room furniture for bed bugs. If you wake up with them, you’ll know to look in your bedroom.
However, don’t expect to find them in just one place. They’ll hitch a ride on you and spread from room to room. If you can’t find evidence of bed bugs, knowing what the bites look like will help you determine if you do have bed bugs. Their bites do look like other insect bites and other skin conditions, including fungal infections or hives.
Of the 90 types of bed bugs, only two usually bite humans. These pests have six legs, no visible wings, and are about a quarter-inch long. They are usually reddish-brown and have a flat body shaped like an oval. The bites are red and smaller than a one-quarter inch across. The bites can form bumps filled with fluid that are sometimes over 2 inches. Look for them on your face, arms, hands, neck and feet. The bites usually appear in a line or a zigzag pattern of three or more bites.
If the infection is not bad, you might learn how to get rid of bed bugs bites yourself. If they swell or start to get infected, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. Here are some pictures of bed bug bites for you to compare with yours.
To help prevent the bites from getting infected, wash the bites with soap and water. If you have antibacterial soap, it is better to use that. Apply a corticosteroid cream to the bites. Repeat as directed on the package, washing the bites each time before you apply the cream. The bites can take up to two weeks to heal.
If the bites don’t seem to be healing, or they start swelling even after you try to get rid of them yourself, you should seek medical attention. Additionally, if you have an allergic reaction to the bed bugs, you should also seek medical attention and contact Clint Miller Exterminating immediately.
